The 42-foot Growing Dome has about 62% more floor area than the 33-foot model, along with a second entryway and additional ventilation equipment. That extra space gives you more layout options, while the larger foundation and interior also require a larger project budget.

Choose the size for the way you will use it
Start with what you want to make room for. A garden with several perennial plants needs a different layout from a greenhouse used for seed starting and workshops. The pond, paths, growing beds, and work areas all occupy part of the floor, so we help you compare the finished interiors as well as the diameters.
The 33-foot Dome is worth considering when you want a substantial growing area with space for people to work together. At 855 square feet, it can accommodate a mix of beds and other uses without taking on the full footprint of the 42-foot. If your plans are mainly for one household, the 22- and 26-foot Domes are also useful points of comparison.
The 42-foot becomes more appealing when you want to keep several activities going at once, such as tending crops while a group works at a table. Its additional 530 square feet can help separate those areas and leave more room for circulation. How owners use the two sizes
At Heartwood Cohousing in southwestern Colorado, residents share a 33-foot Growing Dome. In our visit, the garden team described numbered beds, assigned watering days, and a harvest board that helped neighbors know what was ready to pick.
For a different use of the larger size, our Taspen's Cosmic Kitchen story follows a 42-foot Dome established to supply a restaurant. The gardener brought in tomatoes, cucumbers, berries, and herbs she had started elsewhere, then harvested produce for the kitchen.
Heating and ventilation for a large greenhouse
Growing Domes combine an insulated design with an above-ground pond that stores warmth from sunny periods and releases some as the greenhouse cools. This helps moderate temperature swings, but the temperature you want to maintain still affects the equipment you need. A winter greens garden, a collection of tropical plants, and a space used for classes may call for different heating targets.
Both large kits include electric intake and attic fans, plus undersoil air-circulation equipment. Plan power access early, or ask us about the solar ventilation upgrades. Summer cooling also depends on sunlight, humidity, and the plants inside; adding floor space does not remove the need to move warm air out.

Site preparation and installation
At this size, access matters throughout the project. The delivery vehicle needs a place to unload, the crew needs room to assemble the structure, and water and power need to reach the greenhouse. Review those needs with us while you compare locations, before foundation work or utility trenching begins.
Local wind and snow requirements can affect the configuration and foundation, and the two sizes have different snow ratings. We can help you review the published wind and snow specifications. Your project professionals and local building department determine the requirements for the actual site and use.
Both sizes can be assembled by an experienced owner or qualified local contractor, and both require scaffolding. Growing Spaces offers Supervisor Only, Supervisor Plus One, and Full Crew Installation for the 33-foot. Budget for the finished greenhouse
The kit supplies the pre-cut frame and hardware, glazing, entryway components, foundation-wall components, and the model's included climate equipment and selected pond parts. Some materials are more practical to buy locally. The owner-supplied items list covers foundation-wall insulation, pond construction materials, and undersoil piping, among other items.
Your full project budget should also include freight, site and foundation work, greenhouse assembly, utility connections, beds, soil, and irrigation. Moving to the 42-foot affects several of these costs as well as the kit price.
