Growing Spaces empowers people to create nature-inspired environments that nourish well-being, strengthen community, and grow food wherever they live.

Gary Hall

Owner

Before joining Growing Spaces, I worked in finance and product strategy, helping companies make better decisions and operate more smoothly. I didn’t come here to chase a dream of building a giant corporation. Like the former owners of Growing Spaces, I’m here because I walked into a Growing Dome full of lush plants, in the heart of winter, with snow piled high outside. There’s something quietly magical about stepping into a warm, thriving ecosystem with a full-sized fruit tree at the center, even as the Rockies are buried in snow.

Since acquiring the business, my role has been mostly behind the scenes: supporting the team internally, simplifying complexity, and making sure customers get a great experience from their first quote to their first harvest. I’m here to streamline these processes for both customers and the team that helps them achieve their gardening dreams.

Outside of my work at Growing Spaces, I’m a father, a sci-fi nerd, and you may find me enjoying hikes in the woods.

Kyle Brookens

Customer Experience Manager

I worked at Growing Spaces from 2015 to 2023 and returned in 2025. I’m here to guide you through purchasing a Growing Dome® greenhouse—from planning and site selection to choosing the right accessories for your climate. My goal is to help you create a thriving space for plants (and people!). I also manage the Growing Dome Advisor team and help with technical questions, installation documents, and day-to-day operations.

I love empowering people to grow fresh, nutrient-dense food and watching a Growing Dome transform empty land into a personal sanctuary. I enjoy collaborating with our team to solve challenges and make it easy for anyone to buy a Growing Dome.

I graduated from Western Colorado University in 2013 with a B.A. in Environmental Studies. In my free time, I enjoy hiking with my wife and our two big dogs, skiing, backpacking, and exploring the outdoors with my camera.

My photography business, Kinetic Exposure, is rooted in a simple belief: people seek artwork that changes how they feel. Whether it’s a night sky bursting with stars, a quiet wildlife encounter, or a mountain peak glowing at dawn, I’m not just documenting moments—I’m transporting viewers into them.

Kelly Jones

Growing Dome Advisor

I moved to Pagosa Springs in Nov 2023 to be close to my son and his family. After seeing a Growing Dome on the riverfront here in town I was in love with the product so I came to Growing Spaces to purchase my own Dome. I ended up with a new job as a Growing Dome Advisor!

Worked in the fitness industry for 25 years as a trainer and in Corporate fitness at Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton OR. I love promoting a healthy lifestyle by working out, eating real food, and getting outside in nature. Spend my time away from work gardening, hiking, and hanging with my French bulldog & granddaughter GiGi.

Shelby Lucero

Marketing Manager

I studied Environmental Studies at Fort Lewis College and graduated in 2018. That experience deepened my interest in sustainability and the relationship between people and the environment. Gardening has been part of my life since I was young, so finding a career that connects those interests has been especially meaningful. After a brief detour into banking, I realized pretty quickly that I needed to do something that felt a little closer to my roots, literally. I joined Growing Spaces in August 2020 and have since worked in several departments before finding my home in marketing.

When I’m not at Growing Spaces, I’m still usually thinking about plants. My husband and I share a Growing Dome, and outside of gardening, I enjoy cooking, baking, spending time with family, and planning most of my life around my dog.

Laura Dollar

Creative Director

Having lived in Pagosa since 2001, I’m very familiar with Growing Spaces and have been interested in their geodesic dome design since we moved here. I got my start in gardening in the challenging conditions that Pagosa has to offer. In a previous role with the Southwest Land Alliance, I was able to contribute my graphic design services to the Geothermal Greenhouse Project, which features these unique domes.

When I’m not working, I’m camping and exploring with my husband and dog, or I may be found tinkering with new creative projects like knitting or picking the mandolin.

I’ve worn a lot of hats over the years and am excited now, in the spring of 2024, to be joining the marketing team and supporting the Growing Spaces community.

Tina Jones

Marketing & Social Media Assistant

I joined Growing Spaces in 2021 as a gardener and now work with the Marketing and Social Media department. Formerly I was a kindergarten teacher and then worked as a Gardener and Volunteer Coordinator at Maui Nui Botanical Gardens in Hawaii.

Since moving to Colorado I worked in the veterinary field and have been involved in therapy dog work visiting hospitals, schools, and libraries with a national therapy group. My previous dog and I also worked as a crisis response team helping those affected by crises or disasters and were deployed through Hope Animal-Assisted Crisis Response. Muppet and I are now a crisis response canine-handler team! Outside of working and volunteering, I love growing native plants and flowers at home, hiking, photography, and hanging out with my husband and our dogs.

Shane Martin Smith

Videographer

I graduated from film school in 2010 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science and went on to work internationally as a Cinematographer. I worked for various companies such as Show Time, Netflix & Universal Studios before landing in Colorado where I worked on a show that happened to be filming in Pagosa Springs. I fell in love with the area and decided that I didn’t want to leave. Sitting in a local restaurant, I happened to strike up a conversation with Lem Tingley. I was telling him how cool I thought the geodesic greenhouses were and how I was hoping to get involved with a forward-thinking company like Growing Spaces. I had no idea that the guy I was talking to, had just purchased that very company. Not long after, I would go on to become Growing Spaces full-time videographer.

When I’m not operating a camera for Growing Spaces: I enjoy spending time with my wonderful person, Amber, and our two dogs Rocky & Angus. We both enjoy rock climbing, skateboarding, and most outdoor activities. We also own and operate an art studio called Digital Disenchantment. There, I offer authentic, one-of-a-kind, Wet Plate Collodion photography; commonly referred to as Tintype Photography, and Amber offers tattoo work with 10+ years of experience.

Laura Hamilton

People and Operations Manager

Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, I’ve embraced a life of constant movement and exploration. I moved to Pagosa Springs in 2022, and started at Growing Spaces in May of 2024. My passion for horticulture has driven me through various community service roles, including work with ecology restoration organizations, community gardens, and food banks. At Growing Spaces, I get to blend my management skills and creativity with my love for gardening to support our customers’ greenhouse dreams.

When not working or studying I love exploring nature and enjoying time with my dogs, Grizzly and Remi. Additionally, I serve as Secretary and Public Relations Coordinator for the local non-profit Geothermal Greenhouse Partnership. I also volunteer as a Master Gardener, previously in Utah and am now currently completing my apprenticeship in Colorado.

Matt DeGuise

Production and Installation Manager

I have worked at Growing Spaces since 2011, starting as a dome installer, later as the Production Manager, and now as Installation, Maintenance and Turn-Key Greenhouse support and project management. When working in the shop I prefer to listen to Sirius XM channel 23 the Grateful Dead or channel 60 Outlaw Country. In my free time I enjoy gardening, rafting, and hiking with my wife and dog. I spend my winters as a ski instructor, but look forward to returning to Growing Spaces every spring.

Sarah Avery

Installation and Freight Coordinator

I have been part of the Growing Spaces team since 2021, working as the Installation & Freight Coordinator. I really enjoy working with our customers and subcontractors to make sure every detail of a Growing Dome project comes together smoothly. From coordinating logistics and consulting on foundations to helping design custom interiors like garden beds, decks, and potting benches, I love helping bring each customer’s vision to life and giving our installation crew everything they need to build it on-site.

I have many years of experience in construction and dirt work, which gives me a hands-on perspective and the experience to talk through a wide variety of project details and needs. I enjoy finding solutions, working through the details, and helping make the installation process as seamless as possible.

I truly love my job, our wonderful customers, and the amazing crew I get to work alongside here at Growing Spaces. I feel lucky to be part of a team that helps people create spaces where they can grow, connect, and enjoy their gardens for years to come.

Tyler Fairbanks

Parts and Maintenance Coordinator

I grew up in Colorado Springs and Northwest Arkansas before making Pagosa Springs home two years ago. I love spending time outdoors with my partner, Sam, especially skiing, mountain biking, climbing, and hiking. During the winter months, I also work at a local ski area. When I’m not outside, I enjoy spending time with my fur-babies, Lucy and Ziggy.

I’ve been with Growing Spaces for about a year and a half and love being surrounded by the beautiful gardens while helping customers get the most out of their Growing Domes.

Destiney Hilsabeck

Controller

I began working with Growing Spaces in the spring of 2011. Hired to answer telephones, I was soon coordinating our installation teams for builds and maintenance, as well as processing parts orders and offering customer support. Having grown up living off the grid, I learned the importance of renewable resources and conservation at an early age. Growing Spaces has helped me to foster these lessons from my childhood as well as help guide me towards a healthier lifestyle. I like to spend my free time with family and friends on the river—rafting or tubing. Also playing with my two dogs. Come winter, I like to snowboard, but am also a sucker for cuddling up by a warm fire with a good book.

Richard Miller

Growing Dome Educator and Customer Success Advisor

Greetings All, Richard Miller here! I’m a Vietnam veteran, master gardener, and the retired vent maker. I used to make all the vents for each Growing Dome and did for as long as I can remember. Years ago, I was a professional in commercial steel design, fabrication, and erection. Awarded even, several times, however, that didn’t stop the company I worked for from filing bankruptcy and, sorry to say, losing my full retirement! Now that I look back on it, if that didn’t happen I would never be writing this. I wouldn’t have had the time of building vents for each and every one of you. And now, I get to share even more of my time in your gardening adventure as the Growing Spaces educator and ambassador! Be it backyard gardener, communities or a school to add gardening to the curriculum, I am there. What an honor to support you all in your Growing Dome experience!

It’s this commitment to craftsmanship and consistency that allows us to confidently support growers anywhere.
