Pacific Northwest Greenhouses

The Pacific Northwest west of the Cascades shares a maritime climate with mild temperatures, abundant rainfall, and very limited winter light. Growing Dome owners across the region have a different challenge than most of the country: less about heat retention through winter, more about light optimization and pest management in a perpetually moist climate. This category brings together stories, growing strategies, and practical advice from the Pacific Northwest Growing Dome community: dome strategies for the maritime PNW, winter-light considerations, mold and mildew management, and the projects of dome owners across western Oregon and Washington.

Daniel and Kerry Branagan use their 26' Growing Dome a little differently than most. Instead of growing food or flowers, their greenhouse is filled with beautiful lush succulents of all shapes and sizes. Kerry's love for succulents came about as a child at her grandmas when she saw her first hen and chick succulent. She was fascinated by it.
